The Monastery of Alcobaca is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage. If you vsit this beautiful place is easy to understand why the monastery is on the list.

Its size, its architectural style, the beauty of the materials and the care with which it was built make this a masterpiece of Cistercian Gothic art.

The Monastery of Santa Maria d'Alcobaça was founded in the 12th century by King Alfonso I.

This is an oldie. It was catch with our old FinePix S5000 but i must say that i'm pleased with the quality.

has to be the best i've ever seen.
its size and grandness is overpowering.

Splendid image, a great historic structure and there is a good balance of light between the main subject and the sky area. It's well composed revealing the grandeur of this historic Monastery so superb with lot of intricate details, texture and rich colors tones. The deep blue sky creates a pleasing contrast and lovely inclusion of human activity in the foreground which further adds interest and focal to this shot. A delightful and serene capture! my friend. Yes, Alcobaca Monastery deserves to be on the Heritage list. It is an architecture masterpiece and rich in history. Superb presentation of the beautiful facade. Very nice stromng colours.

This is a beautiful shot of the monastary, the architecture is beautiful and is illuminated by the beautiful warm light. Great POV and composition. I love the inclusion of the tree branches to adds some natural element and it frame the photo very nicely. The presence of the few people also really adds sense of scale and activities. Including the couple of workers resting in the shade.
