Photographer's Note

I finally had the chance to go to Monsaraz for the first time this Christmas. I always take hundreds of photos there because I just love that atmosphere, so far from the shopping centres. So, I'm posting another photo to add to my theme, this time a colour version.

As I've written in the previous notes, this Nativity scene has around 40 real size characters, created by the sculptor Teresa Martins, that are placed all through the village. You can find them in the most amazing places. There are beggers sitting on the stairs of the church, a woman taking water from the well, women and children in the streets... .

Bom dia Anabela, ainda bem que foste lá para podermos ter o prazer de ver este Natal de Monsaraz a cores. O detalhe é muito bom e não sei se é das cores e da luz, com as texturas a saltarem cá fora, mas esta é a minha preferida deste ano até agora. A qualidade de imagem está fabulosa.

Interesting picture. When I saw the thumbnail I wondered what was wrong with these folks. The DOF with the blurry background really brings out the statues within the scene and you've chosen a great composition.

Olá Anabela,
a meu ver, o grande destaque desta sua imagem foi o fato de você aproximar mais o tema da lente.
A nitidez dos trajes e até mesmo dos bonecos, são bem marcantes.

belo detalhe dos bonecos natalinos. gostei muito do significado, da luz e do enquadramento. Verdade, natal está se transformando em uma festa essencialmente comercial, o mesmo sentimento que embala japoneses ou chineses, que não acreditam em Cristo mas festejam o natal, está se transformando em coisa semelhante cá, entre nós. uma festa pagã

Hello Ana, very unusual and beautiful shot from Monsaraz, which is different and more original than other similar shots.
Monsaraz seems to be an exotic Alentejan town, which I haven't seen yet unfortunately. Christmas was the right time but I missed that chance.

Long time, no see!!
Je n'ai même pas eu le temps de me rendre sur ta galerie pour admirer les photos de la crêche de Monsaraz! Elles sont bien belles de nouveau!
Celle-ci est bien touchante avec cette petite qui s'apprête à prendre la main de sa mère!
