Photographer's Note

Just another photo of the Nativity scene in Monsaraz (my 18th post of this event). It's also a night shot - I prefer it at night, as most part of the visitors go away when the night falls. And as today it's Christmas Eve, I've chosen this one with the illuminated church in background.

This is an event that usually attracts many people to Monsaraz. It has around 40 real size characters, created by the sculptor Teresa Martins, that are placed all through the village. You can find them in the most amazing places. There are beggers sitting on the stairs of the church, a woman taking water from the well, women and children in the streets... and the main characters right near the entrance of the castle.

Hola Ana.
Otra esplendida imagen, que nos regalas de esta muestra de arte navideño, en las calles de Monsaraz, es todo un espectaculo, que tiene que ser digno de visitar.
Este encuadre con la iglesia de fondo y las figuras en primer plano es una maravilla.

This photo is also wonderful. The figures are amazing and here against the church they really look great. I think that the night photos and without people have more impact. Wonderful Nativity postcard, very original.

you had nice idea to post all these photos from Monsaraz, so suitable for Nativity. I think also about the pictures from last year in your gallery. I see your gallery in sunny light, like it is all Portugal. Be proud of your work. I will follow that with big pleasure end interest.

Unique and excellent view, and a great idea to include the church lit up like this, it makes it a very warm and inviting shot. I could swear from the thumbnail that these were realy people, the positioning is so life like! Thanks for sharing a really unique scene.

Hello Ana,
you have captured and presented this wonderful installment in a most lovely and intersting way. Like in your previous picture from this event, I admire the composition, depth and clarity that have bestowed the image with lots of interest both in the foreground and the background. The "characters" have been captured from effective angles and seem to have a great contact with the lens. Although so many features and details are missing from their faces, they seem quite expressive. I also like very much the perspectives that surround them and the bright colours. You have used the artificial lighting superbly. Congratulations and thank you!
