Photographer's Note
I've posted a photo of this event last year but I guess it's time to return to the theme. This photo was taken in Monsaraz last year.Every year this village recreates the Nativity scene using around 40 real size figures that are placed all through the village. You can find them in the most amazing places. This is the main street and the square of the church and it was here we could find most part of the figures last year. There are beggers sitting on the stairs of the church, a woman taking water from the well, women and children in the streets... If we follow their direction, we'll find the nativity scene. I guess they change the place of these figures every year.
I'm posting this photo because I particularly like this event. I like Christmas trees also but the Nativity has a big tradition in our country and unfortunately it's losing some importance, I think. So I really apprecciate the idea of seeing this one, in real size and in such an old and traditional village. It hasn't started yet this year but I intend to go there again.
This year there will be big nativity scenes in several other towns,I hope to have the chance to visit a couple of them and show them here.

Ana, what a shot, it really has feeling, I am not sure how else to describe it, the individual elements are nothing out of the ordinary but combined into your composition and they are great. The handling of the whites is awesome.

interesting tradition, to present this by the large figures is different and appealing. I only know the Nativity in a small small crib with small figures or as a theater scene played by humans (often children).
The capture itself has a good POV with that place as the beginning and the lane for depth. Good exposure for strong contrasts but also details in shadow and light.

Espectacular Anabela.

Hello Ana!
I have been searching TE for Nativity scenes, and I have found this one, which is the most original I have ever seen!
The colours are very good, even if they don't quite look like Christmas in our cold countries!
I have added it to my theme "Crêches de Noël Nativities". I hope you don't mind!
Thanks for sharing!
Marie Louise.

Olá Ana!
You show us a very interesting tradition. These characters are very beautiful in this environment. I like these white faces as the walls of the white villages and the clothes of the color of stones and roofs. Do you know if these characters of the nativity exist for a long time? I find that they have a very modern aspect.
Very beautiful photo with magnificent contrasts and a beautiful point of view on the village.

Must be very interesting there Ana, all the scene looks really great especial with the other real people.
The nice shadow-light play creates a nice effect-atmosphere.
