Photographer's Note
This is the first photo of Monsaraz old village Serie. Is a street view and with one of the Castle Towers. This is also a tribute to this very nice, old, typical, touristic and historical village at the interior South of Portugal. This is a fortified village with a old Castle at the province of Alentejo, and near the frontier with Spain.
LOCAL: This village, is a touristic and historical old reference of Portugal and so you have the brother and sister at the the village of Reguengos of Monsaraz a few miles near this place that is well known for his good Portuguese wine.
This next information guidelines are a reference given done by two great TE Photographers about this village and their posts that you can also see in my links.
By VAGABOND: Monsaraz is a Medieval village, born inside the remparts of an old Castle, 50 kms or 35 miles SE of Evora Town and 40 kms or 25 miles away of the East Portuguese border. Every building was rebuilt in the last decades and are now worth a look. At the old remparts, it is possible to have a good view to the new Alqueva Dam, built recently at the Portuguese course of Guadiana River
By RETAGGER: The tiny medieval walled town of Monsaraz with it's narrow cobbled lanes is one of the most atmospheric places in the Alentejo as it still retains much of it's medieval charm. The rural way of life has stayed much the same for centuries and generations of farmers have gone about their daily lives almost untouched by the busy world around them.
The town was handed over to the Knights Templar before Dom Dinis added the castle and fortified walls in the 14th century. From these walls you can gaze east over the Guadiana river to neighbouring Spain, or west across the great plains of the Alentejo.
IMPORTANT Note: About this place I will show all the other TE Contributions to this old and historical village that is also like another Portuguese village that is OBIDOS a place also to visit and that you can see here: Link
For a real Google Localization of this old Village, Reguengos de Monsaraz and where I took the shot you will visit here: Link
I hope you like this picture and Castle Tower at distance.
Thanks for sharing and the Best to you All.

This is a very pleasant view with a nice perspective. The white house are well depicted and the general balance is good. I would definitely have cropped closer on the right to avoid the slanted shadow/corner which comes from the perspective distortion.

I like these white walls. They look very clean and attractive. The touches of green add a nice contrast to the white. The path also works well with it leading to the tower which is perfect as an anchor, both in color and position. The fact that the street is so clean and devoid of clutter makes me think of Renaissance drawings of practicing perspective. The lines of the buildings on the left, especially. PErhaps I would have tried correcting for the perspective distortion from aiming up a bit. So then it would really have a stronger linear feel right into the view. Very well exposed and photographed. Great point of view.

Obrigado.

Boa Tarde Fernando,
NIce view with perspective, if I remember well behind the tower is the praca de touros, right ?
I just find the right wall slightly overexposed, I have read there are methods to avoid this by taking two photos with different measurements (and a tripod !) and combining them with a software, but this gets a bit too technical for me...
Anyway, I like your view :-))
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Fernando, the details and history behind this photograph are amazing. I would have liked to see the photo slightly rotated towards the right side a bit so that the tower at the center would appear to be straight. You can almost get two photos here, the right side and the left side. Good detail... on both sides. What closes and makes the whole photograph is the cobble stone which directs ones view right to the tower which again is of a different colour and texture. Saturating a bit your sky would also give a dynamic contrast between the white structures and the sky. Never the less it is an amazing photograph and you my friend are a lucky one to be able to call it HOME.
Thanks

Ricardo

- Pretty emblematic alleyway of small villages of the Iberian Peninsula, it is typical and nice, the tower in the background, more strict, gives contrast with to whiteness immaculate of the houses, POV is moreover very good, bravo!
