Hello friends,
I don´t have pictures with snow but I have this almond blossom hope you like :)

The almond (Prunus dulcis, syn. Prunus amygdalus Batsch., Amygdalus communis L., Amygdalus dulcis Mill.), is a species of tree native to the Middle East and South Asia. Almond is also the name of the edible and widely cultivated seed of this tree. Within the genus Prunus, it is classified with the peach in the subgenus Amygdalus, distinguished from the other subgenera by the corrugated shell (endocarp) surrounding the seed.
The fruit of the almond is not a true nut, but a drupe, consisting of an outer hull and a hard shell with the seed ("nut") inside. Shelling almonds refers to removing the shell to reveal the seed. Almonds are commonly sold shelled , after the shells are removed), or unshelled , with the shells still attached). Blanched almonds are shelled almonds that have been treated with hot water to soften the seedcoat, which is then removed to reveal the white embryo.

Legend of almond blossom

Many, many centuries before Portugal exist and when the Al-Gharb (Algarve) belonged to the Arabs, Chelb reigned in the future Silves, the famous young King Ibn-Almundim had never known defeat. One day, among the prisoners of a battle, he saw the beautiful Gilda, a princess blond with blue eyes and proud bearing. Impressed, the Moorish king gave him his freedom, gradually earned him the trust and one day he confessed his love to him and asked him to be his wife. They were happy for a while, but one day the young princess fell ill for no apparent reason. An old captivity of the Northern lands asked to be received by the desperate king and told him that the princess suffered from nostalgia for the distant snow in your country. The solution was within reach of the Moorish king, for ordering to plant enough for all his kingdom many almond trees flowered when its white flowers to the princess would give the illusion of snow and she would be cured of your longing. The following spring, the king took Gilda to the window from the terrace of the castle and the princess felt that its forces were returning to see that vision of indescribable white flowers that stretched before his eyes. The Moorish king and the princess lived long years of an intense love of anxious waiting, year after year, the spring that brought the wonderful spectacle of the almond blossom.

Hello Goncalo.Als I saw the photo, I first looked at the date. 02/08/2012 - I can only marvel. The flowering tree makes us hope for the early spring. The white of the blossoms unfolding in front of the blue sky perfectly. Overall a very nice one. Rgds wolfgang.

On Feb.8th we celebrated in Israel a special non-religious but a traditional holyday/festival, about trees and their fruits, and the Almond tree is a major subject as it start (or should have) to bloom.
Lovely tree with white flowers in picture, good in contrast to blue sky.

i sure like it. I once heard that there is a legend about this trees at Portugal. I beleive it was that queen from north-europe married a portugese King but mis the snow so the king give the orde to plant almondtrees because this blossom of it remenber snow!! Something like this! Do you know the legend?

I don't kmnow how I missed this!
What a lovely shot to remind us that spring cannot be too far away! This almond tree must be like the magnolia anf forsythia, which flower before opening their leaves.
Lovely composition, the almond tree spanning, and linking together, the ground and the sky. Excellent colour saturation.
