Photographer's Note
Regendo a cascata
(directing the cascade)
First of all: thanx very much for your kind comments on my last pic. It was highly appreciated. A theme that some of you touched upon was my low posting speed. And now the speed has fallen again due to me travelling a lot lately. I shall try to pick up some extra posting speed again :-)
Displayed here is a detail of a much photographed element of the Parque das Nacoes in Lisboa: the big cascade. The kid is wearing a helmet. Lisbon parents seem to be very safety conscious – most kids engaged in skating, biking or other outdoor sports were wearing head protection.
I saw this kid running into the space behind the fountain and suddenly he stopped and started makin’ gestures as if directing the water. After a few seconds he was gone again. A park moment.
I added a pic of the cascade as a whole in a WS after the crit of Bertrand and changed the title after the one of Isabelle -i like a touch of Braz ;-)
I wish y’all a great weekend!
PCS3 tech: slightly cropped, altered the saturation, contrast, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, enhanced the edges, USM-ed, added a frame and resized and did a gentle USM again.

Hi Bert
Beautifull picture. It's not easy to understand wher this water is coming from. I like the coloprs, the sharpness and of course the spontaneity of this little boy

Hi Bert,
Haha, you do have a low speed of uploading, but that fortunately does not say anything about the quality of your uploads! This is just great. He is really standing like in front of a royal orchestra! It must be so great to have the imagination of a kid. ;-)
Greetings,

Bonjour Beet

Groeten,
John.

Hi Bert,
You certainly captured the lad at the decisive moment. I like the lighting here, the dynamism of the fountain, and the high quality of the resolution in general. Very fine work. Cheers.

Hi Bert,
Absolutely fascinating shot. I love the way you have frozen the water even though it is not ice. The little boy in red excited over what is happening is excellent. Have nice week end!
Cheers,
Ulf

Hi Bert
This is fantastic how the boy looks so happy to be able to play with the water. The sharpness of the water droplets is superbe and there's so much contrast. Good thing he was wearing that red shirt.

beautiful image, Bert.
I can also see how you enjoyed those moments, and, perhaps, you were that little boy for a second.
in braz portuguese one could also say "regendo a orquestra".
kiss to you, have a great weekend.

I didn't immediately realise that this was water. Now I see it makes perfect sense. Very well captured as the boy is directing proceedings. The vivid red of his socks and T-shirt really catch the eye. The strong diagonal is an important feature of the image.

Hello Bert,
with the first glance, i thought that the little boy was directed an orchestra because of the height of his hands and generally the placement of his body.I like the sharpness, the lighting and the colours.Very interesting composition.Well done.
Have a nice weekend,Danos

Hi again, Bert.
This one is funny, beautiful, a play of fantasy and joy. I can imagine the fantasy of this child directing his own "orchestra" (I remember some scenes of Disney's Fantasy, Mickey Mouse directing the stormy waters). The water wall is marvellous, and the boy in red and blue is truly incredible! Great! Thanks.
Regards,
Angel.

Hi, Bert.
A touching capture. Lighting, timing, framing (specially framing!), everything fits well here. I wish I could make things like these with my kids... (sigh).

Hi Bert, I miss you too around, as I miss Rinie. I vote for the return of the Rotterdam section as soon as possible :-)
Great instant here, Bert. The point of the water is great, but what makes the photo remarkable is the position and the gesture of the boy. Great one.
