Cycling through vineyards, a photo from Portalegre, South

Photographer's Note

Another image for my theme of Alentejo and cycling in Alentejo. This was taken near the village of Seda, about 15km from the village of Benavila. Vineyards allways attract the eye of the photographer and of course that I also got caught by these lines ondulating on the fields, with the road winding through them.

How do you find such places?
How can you find time to wander around so frequently?
I feel like an urban creature, destined to take photos of streets and other regular things. And those wines with the cyclist on the road look like an unreachable dream to me.
Tones of green and the beautiful parallel lines are very attractive. Beautiful photo indeed.

what would you say about cropping at the top so that only the green fields are seen as a background?

beautiful composition ric, with the parallel lines of the vinyard and the cyclist in pink... yeah, the sky could have gone but still great this way... lovely countryside mood releaving me even at work... all the best :)...

Lá vai a menina mais fotografada do TE... :) Aquela faixa de azul ali no topo merece duas coisas: ou ser erradicada por completo, ou ocupar todo o terço superior... Agora assim temos que usar aquela expressão do "nem é carne, nem é peixe"! :) Acho que também podias ter colocado a ciclista no terço inferior, ou seja, clicado um pouco mais cedo. Se calhar como está, seria perfeito com mais céu. Mas depois também se perdia este declive no início. Difícil esta vida de fotógrafo...

Olá Ricardo,
that is a nice theme - vineyards. Geometrical structure, lines and green, you can have a lot things with them (beside grapes and wine). Your biker is adding life in a nice composition with this road winding thorugh the vineyards, first a bit up and then a curve to the right. First in parallel then oppositional to the rows. Este passeio de bicicleta está com um efeito gráfico muito interessante, com a estrada a cortar as linhas formadas pela vinha.
Com mais uma ou duas filas de videiras à esquerda ainda ficava melhor.

I find this a very strong picture! The view over the vineyards is beautiful and these lines are fantastic, especially on the hill in the background. The road is well placed in the compostion and the lonely cyclist is a great inclusion too.

My goodness! What were you doing? Hang-gliding? ballooning? The POV is wonderful so you could capture this graphic effec et of the lines of vines. Definitely do NOT crop the sky as part of the charm of the image is the way the vines stick out at the top. I see Ana as your willing assistant again.

This compo is perfectly bamanced, IMO.
The road drives the eye through the green vineyards, and the cyclist adds lots of life.

Olá Ricardo,

Fabulosa! A vista é mesmo muito bonita e não vejo como podias ter aproveitado melhor o grafismo da paisagem. O meu olhar tende a andar para cima e para baixo, insistindo em percorrer todas as linhas das vinhas. Isto depois de passear pela estrada ondulante e ter voltado atrás. :-)

Quanto às notas do luisafonso, dá uma vista de olhos nos meus WS's. Fiz um sem céu e outro com mais céu.

É realmente interessante constatar mais uma vez que os olhos nem sempre concordam com o cérebro, pois já tinha começado a escrever que não concordava antes de resolver fazer os WS's. Mas no fundo são preciosismos que só têm algum interesse com o que aprendemos nas discussões (entre nós e connosco mesmos) que geram, pois o teu post original está mesmo estupendo.

The green lines of the vines make this a very graphical composition as well as the clear curving line of the road. The solitary cyclist is well placed in the compo and the overall result is very pleasant to look at.

Wow, this is my first impresion about this picture, I would like to be there, this is a beautiful place, the arches and the repetiton of this platns are so good, this road and the person in the bicy give the plus to this pic.
The color are so good, clear and the angle too.

Imagem com um grafismo lindíssimo que nem parece ser o nosso Alentejo, aproveitaste bem o tempo de férias para o vicio TE.A presença "desta" ciclista ajuda muito à composição e também à discussão. Em relação aos postes no workshop gosto mais sem duvida do original.

el efecto de aplastamiento de la perspectiva que da la focal larga crea una imagen espectacular, con una geometría espléndida gracias a las alineaciones de las viñas.
Es puro grafismo, y una foto impactante, muy atractiva. La ciclista pone el contrapunto vital a la escena.

I love all your solo cyclist shots in your native (?) place, with Ana as your wilful assistant. This one's different with strong impact of the lines of vineyards & they over the undulating slope in the BG. The pink of her T shirt stands out amidst the greens...and I am not for cropping of the thin blue sky..just my personal opinion!

Excelente o impacto visual causado pelas linhas das videiras e por esta estrada ondulante. Esta ciclista que tambem é montanhista acrescenta vida e interesse à tua foto que já era interessante mesmo sem ela.

I like the grafics of this one. The straight lines of the vineyards over the hills create a great view and you choose the perfect POV.
