The floods..., a photo from Coimbra, North

Photographer's Note

Now that the country is being largely affected by the floods I'm showing a photo I've taken today in Coimbra. The Mondego River is much larger now. These trees we see in foreground are from a park on the left bank.

As águas subiram bastante por aí hein!? A foto ficou bonita apesar desta situação preocupante. As árvoes sem folhas deixam ver a beleza da cidade que deve proporcionar belas vistas diurnas e noturnas .

Looks like your country is going through some serious weather phenomena. The colours in the image seem faded however the image is very effective to show us the events affecting the city. The background is quite impressive. Your framing of the scene is very nice, with good details and description.

Ola Ana,
Immediately when I saw this pic. I recognized the skyline of Coimbra old-town and the university buildings, but than saw the flooded Mondego river - That's quite amazing contrast to what I remember from 10/10/2010 visit. Hope you could cross the bridge to your office... and no harm done to other's.

Dear Ana

Such a different scene to the ones we are used to seeing of blazing sun and heat. I love the reflections and the excellent depth of field. Wonderful colours and a distinctly icy mood to the photo.

Hello Ana,
This is maybe not shocking, but quite disturbing. Floods can cause such misery and economic losses. Since I didn't hear about these floods I guess they have not caused a total disaster. The photo is interesting and very nicely composed. I like the almost black trees to the left and the white trees on the other side, as well as the dark clouds balanced by the black water. These frames put the white city climbing the hill in total focus,

Hi Ana,rivers in northern Italy are very very dry in this month,no rain and no snow,and it's curious to see this event not far by Italy....terrific flood in a magnificent pic,just a bit undersaturated but very sharp and bright.have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi, Ana, This is a typical scene for lot of places in the springtime. I hope it would not so bad for the trees. I like this background, it makes this scene more picturesque. TFS! Serghei

Well Portugal is certainly living up to its climate description of hot dry summers and cold wet winters. At least all the reservoirs will be 100% full for summer. Too much rain though for sure. Tfs!

tivemos uma cheia histórica aqui na minha cidade há dias, na verdade desde outubro temos tido chuvas e tempestades contínuas.
linda foto, com o toque surpreendente da cheia e o lindo casario de coimbra lá na encosta ensolarada. trabalho bem feito.
