Luz!, a photo from Evora, South

Photographer's Note

This photo was taken near Aldeia da Luz and this is the same house I've posted a few days ago. Aldeia da Luz (luz means light), is a small village situated by the Alqueva, the biggest artificial lake in Western Europe. To make this lake possible, it was necessary to evacuate a village with almost 400 inhabitants, once it would stay under water. A new village was then built, not far away, following the plans of the old one, and people had to move. Hard to imagine how hard it was for them, if we consider great part of them were old people. Every time I go there I have the feeling the inhabitants miss the old village a lot. I usually meet some curious visitors and also a few inhabitants but I don't think it has the life the old one used to have. This little road used to lead to the old village, now it leads nowhere, just to the water. A beautiful place that makes me sad!

Bonjour Elvira,

Une photo toute en ombres avec une petite pointe de lumière au bon endroit. On dirait une piste d'aéroport mais très petit. Une belle ligne de fuite vers la droite.

Hello Ana,
Once again you managed to capture such a beautiful sunlight here. The sidelight touches the white walls of the house so wonderfully. The composition is excellent with this empty landscape and the road in the foreground.
