Time for Transhumance - XV, a photo from Guarda, North

Photographer's Note

Once again, I joined the shepherds and followed the route of transhumance, leading around 1000 sheep and goats (just in this group here) from Seia to Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain in Portugal, where they are going to spend the summer, because it's not so hot and they have better pastures. I 've already forgotten about the heat and the dust, it was an amazing experience to be among so many animals and to have the chance to talk with the shephers and listen to their stories.

Simplicity does the job every time..

This is a brilliant peaceful image and 'fine art reeds' of a very eye pleasing content. Beautiful focus, superb use of shallow dof and wonderful light picking out the reeds contrasted by gorgeous glimpse of red background adding the punchy finishing touch. What fascinating things they are....

Hello Ana,
This is a rather unusual composition, but it was a smart choice to put the focus so clearly on the straws in the foreground. The cattle are almost unidentifiable but their decorations are seen as attractive and slightly blurred details in the background. The colours are naturally saturated by the fine light.

C'st très astucieux comme construction d'image. Bonne idée de faire le focus sur les brindilles et de laisser les couleurs dans le flou.

Excelente uso desta profundidade de campo, que deu destaque às plantas no primeiro plano e me deixou curioso pra saber o que são os detalhes coloridos borrados logo atrás. Mas já conferi o que são em uma das fotos anteriores! Lindo trabalho, muito bem realizado com excelente iluminação e nitidez!
