Time for Transhumance - XVI, a photo from Guarda, North

Once again, I joined the shepherds and followed the route of transhumance, leading around 1000 sheep and goats (just in this group here) from Seia to Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain in Portugal, where they are going to spend the summer, because it's not so hot and they have better pastures. I 've already forgotten about the heat and the dust, it was an amazing experience to be among so many animals and to have the chance to talk with the shephers and listen to their stories.

Hello Ana,
It's difficult to tell if this is early or late in the day, or if it's just the heavy fog that creates this strange light and mysterious atmosphere. It is in any case a fascinating photo and document of a way of life that has been lost in most parts of our continent. The silhouettes of the shepherds contribute a lot to the fine atmosphere.

Hello Ana,

I like the atmosphere of the picture, the shepherds between the sheep and the fog cares for a very nice picture.
Not simple for if woman become member of the group shepherds, and follow the group.
A nice composition, nice presentation too.

Bonjour Ana,

Je suis toujours très attiré par tes images de bergers. Ici, le point de vue était probablement très mouvementé, mais tu as réussi à capter une lumière exceptionnelle avec toute cette poussière en suspension.

Yet another mystic photo of the shepherds guarding and guiding the sheep to their summer pastures. The mist gives the scene an eerie but at the same time calming mood. Truly a charming scene indeed.
