Castro Daire

Photographer's Note

This year I've followed the Route of Transhumance also in Castro Daire, in the Montemuro Mountain. This was once the end of the Last Route of Transhumance that lasted for around 5 days. In the old days, the shepherds used to bring the sheep and goats from the Serra da Estrela to this mountain, in summer. It was a long way that used to take around 5 days. The Route I followed started in Castro Daire and finished at the top of the Montemuro Mountain (around 20 km).

Now that is quite a sight to see The depth of field is fantastic with the animals all along this terrain, chomping on the greenery. Took a second look at your photo and thought what a contrast seeing these animals that have been frequenting this place for maybe a thousand years, and then in the far background one sees the modern way of generating electric power with the fans of solar power at work. Exciting. Wunderbar.

that blue is a very special blue indeed.
and anytime you have white surrounding it in the images its gonna pop! excellent color combinations. You could have cropped a bit off of the top to make it more stream lined, but that's just a personal preference thing. wonderful colors, lighting and exposure

Amazing view of these sheep in line going to the pastures. Fortunately only two windmills here. They disturb a bit the rural view timeless view. Beautiful colours.

The deep blue sky gives the image a dramatic impact. The scene is amusing with all the sheep in a long row to the new sustainable energy source: the windmill.

Bonjour Ana,

J'aime beaucoup cette série. La transhumance est un beau phénomène où les bêtes peuvent profiter des beaux prés verts en été. Beau cadrage vertical avec la technologie moderne au niveau supérieur.

A cleverly constructed composition putting the eye popping wind turbines into the shot. I think this goat on the foreground has been doing more than grazing providing a smooth lead upwards. Like the results of your play makes for a fabulous image. Delightful capture, Congrats.
