The waterfall...., a photo from Aveiro, North

Photographer's Note

This is Cabreia, one of the most beautiful waterfalls I know in Portugal. It's around 25 meters high and it's situated in Cabreia Mountain, surrounded by vegetation and not far from a village called Silva Escura. When I arrived there, the sun was already high and light was not the best. The place has also many people around in summer but it's magical anyway. And someone had put some flowers there!

Above all great victory of appropriate slow shutter speed setting, Ana. Water flow of fall seems to many silk lines, nice cropping should be also highly appreciated.

hello Ana

I never cease to be amazed by the variety of landscapes in Portugal. When I first looked at this I was thinking, Faroes, Iceland, Norway maybe... It's the dark, low-key lighting that does it. But that flash of brillant colour is probably the giveaway that this is somewhere significantly warmer.

Bonjour Ana,

Elle est très belle cette chute. J'aime la vitesse d'obturation qui donne une belle texture à l'ensemble et j'aime cette fleur jaune qui apporte tout un contraste.

do you have a wider angle to show as well? Just curious, i'd like to see it with the surrounding landscape too.
but like you said, perhaps the lighting wasn't the greatest so this was the best choice of composition at the time.
I like how it has levels, its cascading downwards quite elegantly. nice to have the flowers there for a pop of colour too. cheers

I usually prefer a very short shutter time by pictures of waterfalls of fountains unless the result of a longer shutter time is a certain attractive abstraction. Your interesting picture is a good example of that. Nice the yellow flower giving a little colours to the scene.
