Valongo, a photo from Evora, South

Photographer's Note

er a long time, I returned to the Castle of Valongo or Royal Castle of Montoito, situated in Valongo, in the Alentejo.
Considered a national monument, it's now in ruins and it's private property - it cannot ve visited inside. It dates probably from the Moorish period (some Moorish inscriptions can be found inside).
In the 15th/16th centuries it was restored and the highest tower was added, in Manueline style. It's a good example of Medieval architecture - it has been used for military purposes, but also as a royal palace.

This time I took the photos in autumn, at sunset!

Hello Ana,

You really don't need to go inside when you can have a photograph like this!
The silhouetting of the fort, against the warm, amber sky, gives it a sense of mystery and intrigue.
A very well composed photograph.

Quelle belle photo d'une partie de l ajournée qui passe du bleu à l'orange presque sans s'en rendre compte. Le château est magnifique en ombre chinoise. Magnifiques couleurs.

Hi Ana,
what a beautiful photograph.
A true spectacle happening in the sky. The cloud pattern so attractive with the orange tones adding so much beauty and contrasting with the bluish tones of the sky.
The silhouette of the castle makes it so much more interesting.
Breath taking scene.
