Photographer's Note
Every year S. Miguel da Mota becomes the stage of one of the most beautiful ceremonies of worship I've seen in my country. This was the place of Endovelicus Santuary. Endovelicus is a God from the Iron Age, he was particularly important in the Iberian Peninsula and the worship became extinct owing to the growth of the Christian Faith, during the Roman Period. There are still many ancient ex-votos that were once offered to Endovelicus and studies keep being carried out. The worship actually exists, thanks to the Wicca Celtibera religion, that is keeping the Iberian Gods and Worship alive.
Every year there are conferences about this theme in Alandroal, the nearest town, and the Wicca members prepare a beautiful ceremony of worship on the sacred place.

Hi Ana. Fascinating note and the practice reminds me of the Druid revival in UK. But I do wonder how close the ceremonies are to the original pre Christian ones. Anyway, lovely photo with the devotional silhouettes. What type of God was he/ Like Zeus or Bacchus? The Slavs too had many gods. I know the name of one- Perun. Regards. Klaudio.

Hello Ana,
An excellent impression of this ceremony. The soft, pastel colours of the sky are a great background for the silhouettes of the worshippers.

Bonjour Ana,
On voit que tu as bien réfléchi avant de prendre cette photo dans les plus belles conditions possibles. Le coucher de soleil est parfait et les hommes en ombres sont magnifiques dans leur moment de prière.
Bon dimanche

Hi Ana
Every picture tells a story - and this is something I have no knowledge of, beautifully calm shot of a very reverent moment.
The combination of silhouetted deep prayers and light with lovely sumptuous colours certainly bring this rather gorgeous and most tranquil image to life, simply enchanting.
A superb image and lucky you, what a location to have all to yourself!
Congrats
Best wishes

Hello Ana,
you captured a very suggestive and interesting scene that expresses the spirit of the ceremony, as described in your note, and entices the viewer to look for more information. I like the graphic silhouettes captured at an interesting moment of the ritual, we can also discern intriguing details on them. The colours and the atmosphere are fascinating. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good night,
Ourania
