Photographer's Note

I wasn't really planning on posting this photo on TE, but i thought it would be the perfect contrast to my previous post, which you can see by clicking on the link.

Gritty Street.

In the other photo you see an older man walking through a tough part of town with gritty buildings. In my new post is a beautiful model type of woman, well dressed, fashionable, and in the bg is a classic Lisbon scene which you may be familiar with.

As I was composing the scene quickly and unexpectedly, the woman was looking directly at me. However it was very brief, and I guess she noticed I was photographing her so she looked down. And of course thats when i pressed the shutter haha, damn!

I only had about 2 or 3 seconds at most to get the shot, so i think it still turned out pretty well.

Hello Craig,
Taken in a sidestreet of Praça de D. Pedro IV (Rossio) I believe. On the distance we can see a part of the wall of São Jorge Castle.
A very lively neighbourhood with many restaurants.
The beauty does not realize that you make a picture of her. She's too busy listening to her favourite music.
Beautiful daily life-picture, well composed.

Beautiful street scene with the woman doing what many women does. Looking in their bag. Often they only find what they are searching by empty the whole bag. So I don´t think she even noticed you were taking a picture of her.

Hello Craig,something of interest from fg to bg here.The depth of field is excellent.The young woman is perfectly placed in the composition; it does not matter that she is looking down.

The girl is well-placed on the edge of the shadow and light, and since she is moving, she gives that something plus for the picture.

Sicuramente questa strada si presenta molto meglio grazie anche alla presenza femminile, ma ci sono anche tante altre bellezze sullo sfondo della foto.

So now we get a more touristy view, together with a fashionable lady. As usual, you ran into a model type during your travels. :-) Nice view of the column and architecture in the background, together with the activity in the foreground.

The young woman is an eye catcher. The point of view is showing the details of the monument in the background qhich is giving depth also. The good luminosity is making the colours to stand out. Have a nice day.

Hi Craig. i think she is rummaging for her capsicum spray! Pity that the model types are following the dictates from America and look somewhat emaciated in general. Ah, where is the good, solid peasant stock, the strong and healthy child bearing types who advertised through their rosy cheeks and ample form that they would survive childbirth and be good mothers. A swift and successful photo-action, Craig, a street view downtown Lisboa.
I can comprehend directions here, as I see the Rosio sq. statue and the Sao-Gorge castle on the far side hill.
After all said, the young elegant lady capture is a nice bonus to the scene.

A great photo of the other side of Portugal with much better maintained architecture. The view down to the column is very nice, especially in this appealing sunlight. The people add a fine impression of daily life.

2-3 seconds, that's normal for most of my street-shots ;-). You managed to squeeze a lot into this picture and I suppose it tells us more about Portugal than the gritty last photo, but I find the last one more interesting and personal. Of course the woman in black is nicer to watch than the old man, but...

Hello Craig,

Before I read your notes, I thought what a contrast between this and your last street scene! The only similarity is the street!
Though you didn't have long to compose it, instinct kicked in, and you have a great shot; strong guide lines, light and shade well addressed, fine clarity and, best of all, a great link between the f/g and b/g by way of the striking lady and the tall memorial.

yes we believe you that you always everywhere "accidentally" bump into beautiful girls...
Now I actually wonder if the previous upload of yours with the old guy was meant to prepare us for this one...
Kidding aside it is a nice and original view of this famous place. Interesting how the monument and the view of the square is framed with shadowed houses. The girl makes a charming foreground.
