The story of the day when the descendents of the giants burnt too early to leave seeds...
reminds me of the eternal fire of hell.
There was no wind, the pines were still small. They burned slowly. It took more than 24 hours for 20 ha to burn.
Nobody came to fight this fire, even if it was less then 3 km away from the next village.
A few pines, standing a little apart from the others or having branches enough above the earth, even survived.
They still carry black at the base of their trunks in memory of the thousands of their brothers that they saw burning slowly all around them.
