Water Lines, a photo from Lisboa, South

Photographer's Note

Today I’ve decided to post another different image.
This one is from a artificial waterfall in “Parque das Nações” – Lisbon.
The image was taken at the end of the evening…that’s why the sky on the background is so dark.
I use a flash light because I want to have a high velocity (1/125) so that the water movement could stay partially frozen.
About the place…
The Parque das Nações is situated in the eastern part of the city of Lisbon, straddling the Lisbon and Loures city limits. It's boundaries are the Ave. Marechal Gomes da Costa to the south and by Trancão River to the north. To the east lies the Tagus estuary, to the west, the Northern Train Line.
The Parque das Nações site previously was home to large industrial factories, notably a Petrogal refinery and storage facility (Ex-Sacor and other companies installations covered nearly 50 hectares). Also present were the Lisbon Industrial Slaughterhouse, the National Depository for Decommissioned Munitions, a Waste Water Treatment Plant, a sanitary landfill, and the Beirolas Solid Waste Treatment Plant. Not to mention an assortment of other port and industrial concerns.
Right from initial planning, the Parque das Nações constituted an opportunity to create a new city, one where architecture would take varied forms, with imagination the limit. Examples of innovative design include the Portugal Pavilion, the Luís de Camões Theatre, the Vasco da Gama Tower and the Oriente Station.
From the initial planning phase, better living in a urban setting was the goal of Parque das Nações. To achieve that goal, landscaping plans centered on an ambitious tree-planting program. Trees weren't just planted in gardens. They went everywhere: parks, viewpoints, rotundas and traffic islands, plazas and roadsides.

Teresa, you are presneting us today with a very graphical image. I like the contrast and dinamic that the water creates. The light shining through the water is almost hipnotic.

Hi Teresa - great compositon & the shutter speed is effective here too. The colours are quite strong, even though there's not many different colours in the image. Great work!

Esta foto nos muestra una gran calidad técnica para su realización. La velocidad necesaria para "congelar" el movimiento del agua, el apoyo del flash, el color que has conseguido del cielo, y los brillos de los chorros de agua, son excelentes.
Además, la presentación es muy elegante, junto a una nota muy interesante y explicativa.
Muy buen trabajo, me gusta mucho.

Please don`t hit me after this what I will write. I dont like the photo as a whole. It is to little clear what it is. I read you note and I know, but still must force my imagination to see it as it should lool.
Nevertheless it is a interesting idea which I appreciate. to show the world a bit different. And thus as you and me are a bit crazy people I admit you a big green smile, especially for a technical site of the photo.

Depois do jogo (não ligo nada ao futebol, mas é difícil ficar indiferente ao Mundial) e do Saké do almoço no Japonês, faço uma visita ao teu portfolio e escolho esta imagem espectacular, ainda por cima tirada à noite.
