Photographer's Note
One more from Alentejo's series, taken in the begining of the summer, during our cycling daily trips, when the fields were already in yellow tones.
I was attracted by this slope and the lines of the fields and walkway, that provided a good perspective.
-----------------------------
In WS there is more photos:
In a wider angle (some photo but without crop - I wasn't sure which one to post, as I like both, but I think I like more this minimalist result);
And other taken a few moments before, with the cyclist still downhere.

Ola Ricardo, this is so nice, as you say you aimed for a minimalist shot, and it is one (although I am beginning to be tired of certain TE cliches and am trying to avoid using these words in my critiques...:) I must say I am not sure which one I like more: this one or the one where the cyclist is in the bottom. I prefer the framing in the main post, because in the WS the crop is too tight and here you show this beautiful cloud; on the other hand, the WS version is better in terms of dynamism, because there we see that the cyclist has still to climb. Any way, I like both versions!
Cheers

Hi Ricardo
A great shot. Despite the cloudy sky, you had nice lighting and this is obviously shot as the sun peeped through the clouds. Out of all 3 shots, I like them all but perhaps prefer altered image #3 since the tree is less central which is somehow more pleasing to the eye. Superb work.
Best wishes

Bonjour mon ami Ricardo,
Bravo !

What a dilemma; I've been flicking back and forwards comparing each one and can't make up my mind. I think I prefer this one .. and yet...Do you know why I'm finding it difficult, because I'm distracted by the frames. That should tell you something....
Yes I think this was the right choice, but I think maybe you should re-think the frame. My opinion is that if you want a big frame, then white is the only way to go after first putting a black border of no more than 5 pixels to hold the image in. But frames are such a personal choice.

Lovely POV with the lonely tree and this biker. Nice perspective leading us to this hill. Great Alentejo colours. I'm only not sure about this frame, the size is good but the colour is not, but it's only my taste :)

Hej Ricardo,
This photo has a very strong composition I think. The path and field leads the eye nicely towards the top of the slope and so towards the tree and the cyclist. The clouds are a good background here and I like the colour contrast between the top and bottom of the shot. Good work!

Hi Ricardo
What a photograph! The perspective is great to catch the upward slope of the road & the surroundings. The elevated hill provides a wonderful unobstructed view of the tree against the blue sky. The cyclist is wonderfully placed..wonderful split second timing on your part for catching him in this exact moment. To me it’s a Perfect Shot…except the big frame. Your photo is too good for anything to be added to it for effects…that’s my opinion though

Ola Ricardo,
I like here the field graphism and the simplicity of the image that focuses the eye at once on the two elements, nice as well to see the tree throwing shade onto the cyclist, with the heat I can imagine it's for sur no luxury to get even such a tiny cooling.

Hello ricardo,
very well captured fantastic shot from a great pov with excellent dof and perspective. I like a lot the vertical format and the simplicity of the pic. I really like this shot Ricardo, although in my opinion the composition could do with a bit of tweaking. The tree is a bit too central in the frame for my taste, and I would have preferred it if the left edge of the road was running out of the bottom left hand corner. Having the road in this position would also have had the effect of moving the tree further to the right. Like in your original shot in fact, although I can see why you cropped it. Perhaps a further crop is in order, I'll do a quick WS.
Despite my picky comments, I really like this shot. Well done.
Cheers,
Ben

And the lonely biker adds a nice touch to the scene as well. The almost minimalist style is wonderful as we can actually see more and absorb the scene fully. The warm, yellow based tones are pleasing and the sky is in good proportion. Very stylish.

Hi Ricardo,
Excellent study to find the best composition. Each pictures has its own strong points. Looking for the right diagonals often gives some tension in the image. Also the framing is very important here. I’m not yet sure which I like best. I have too look some more times for that.

Hi Ricardo,
Well composed and seen from this excellent low angle POV. I like the lines here leading uphill, which also denote slightly varying hues of beige and brown. There is a lonely ambience here that is accentuated by the stark landscape, the lone cyclist, and the solitary tree. Very fine work, Ricardo. Its a keeper.

Salut Ricardo,

Hi Ricardo, I think this has to be my favourite of your 200 posts. An inspired decision to wait until the cyclist was level with the tree before releasing the shutter. It emphasises the symmetry between the furrows in the earth and the cycle path beautifully, a symmetry that is only broken - to good effect - by the shadow of the bush on the path. The light is wonderful and the exposure is first class. Excellent. Stephen PS Thanks for the kind reference to one of my critiques of yesterday ;-)

How did I miss this one before, Ricardo - it's a great shot. But actually I like the one in the workshop with the cyclist in the bottom of the frame even better. Ben's alternative crop with the tree a little off centre also works well - there are so many variations of composition that you can achieve from this POV. One that you didn't post but would have been great in my view, would be the same framing as the one with the cyclist at the bottom, but shot when the cyclist was at the top of the hill. But I still like the minimlaist feel to your original post. Cheers . . . David

Simple theme, elegant landscape composition...everything is right with this scene. You have provided a great contrast between the brown tilled land and the aqua blue sky which is seperated by the cyclist and tree.
I know framing is per the artist, but the grey tone does nothing in my opinion for the tremendous photo you have shown (possibly smaller and a colour more in line with the subject)...and that my friend is the least of our problems. So with that; Kudos, a green smiley and an added favorite!
