Spring in Lisboa, a photo from Lisboa, South

Photographer's Note

Following the trend of presenting blossoming trees, here is my contribution. We have some areas with cherry trees in Portugal also, namely near my home town, but I forgot again to make a photo trip to get some cherry blossom shots, so here it goes this one, of a tree whose name I don't know, but it is quite common in the parks of Lisboa.

It was shot the same day this one was and on the same area, Parque Eduardo VII, a big park in the centre of the city that was given the name of the British King that visited Lisboa in 1902. The park already existed before that, but in the early years of the 20th century (the last ones of the monarchy) it was much enlarged and improved. You can look at these panoramique posts by Bluejeans [*] and AiresSantos [*].

WS's: Other blossomed trees (#1, #2). Maybe they are suitable for a main post than this one, but I think this one is more in accordance with the TE spirit because it shows a little bit of the city beyond just a tree in a park.

The photo is kind of deceptive, because we have been having much wintry weather since the Spring has arrived, with much rain and even some cold.

Hi Jose, excellent capture of those spring branches against the blue sky with good contrast. Yes I agree with you that, somehow winter and spring replaced eachother in Portugal. Even during the winter, I haven't witnessed such a windy weather which we are suffering during the last few days (:

Hello José,

The simple frame complements this lovely photograph well. Indeed, the colors are evocative of the warm weather hopefully around the corner. The Japanese sakura trees, it's nice to see, decorate Lisbon also. Well composed shot, and the usual richly detailed note.

Olá José,
what a nice choice for a spring capture with a part of the tree in focus and frame, the background with less sharpness and more relevance on the contrast of the tree against the sky.
The cold weather seems to on the western half of Europe as we suffer also. As nice as winter can be, but nobody wanted it ongoing in the last days.

It is a wonderful sight to see the blossoming trees in spring. I enjoyed following all your links and this looks like a beautiful park. I like the way you composed this image, carefully framing it so the tower appears between the branches. The light is very good. I like both WSs with closer views of a different species. Good all-round presentation

a limitação de 200kb é sempre um problema nesse tipo de foto, mas mesmo assim você conseguiu um ótimo resultado. Realmente as belas cores da primavera.

nice Spring shot of this cherry tree that is in blossomed this season.Iknow it because of i have one and two smaller cherries trees in my yard.I like your synthesis with the houses of the town to be seen in the background.Informative your note too.

Belle prise de vue printanière et toujours beau à voir les arbres en fleurs. Chez-nous c'est plus tard car il reste encore de la neige mais la chaleur est arrivée et la neige fond rapidement. Bon éclairage et bonne composition avec la ville derrière.

As cores estão maravilhosas e a escolha da composição desta e os POVs dos WS ficaram muito bem.
Espero que logo, logo estejamos nesta fase da estação também. Já vemos grandes espaços SEM neve! Mas ainda sem verde :-(

Por esta foto siento un poquito de envidia, de la buena, claro está. Porque desde hace algún tiempo he querido tener la oportunidad de captar un escena así, con preciosas tonalidades y producir un efecto gráfico florido.

Me gusta mucho la composición,el encuadre y la nitidez, y la forma como dificilmente se tratan de visualizar ciertos detalles, a traves de las ramas. Bonito trabajo.

....sem querer provocar foi a esperança depois do 5-3 que me fez ler mal o título ...

mas independentemente de tudo gostei imenso deste céu polarizado com uma cerejeira a a nunciar que qq dia é tempo da cor "vermelha"...
