This is my 13th panorama in TE, but the first one produced with a specialised software. I did the others by 'manually' blending different shots using layers, but on this one I used Hugin. I had done other attempts in the past, but the results were always frustrating, namely on the perspective, but also in the accuracy of the stitching. I guess I wasn't trying hard enough to understand how things work or how the adjustments have to be made. However, I have the impression that I could have obtained the same results by 'my' old method with the same effort, if not less.
I used 3 shots that I took on the same day of my last post of Guincho. The rest of this note is copied from the note of that post.
Praia do Guincho is a large beach near the small town of Cascais and less than 30 Km away from Lisboa. It is famous among surf lovers of many kind because it is reputed as one of the most windy and wavy beaches of Europe. It is also one of the most Western ones, at least on the continent. I have seen surfers enjoying even higher waves here on other occasions, but I guess that the sea was specially dangerous this day because there wasn't any surfer in sight.
The stripe of land on the BG is Cabo da Roca, a cape that is the westernmost point of continental Europe.
There is a little detail on this image that is a sad surprise: that grass on the foreground was covered with flowers; as far as I remember, those flowers were clearly visible 'alive', the purple and yellow being as evident as the green, but that doesn't happen in the photo.
WS's: #1- closer view of the wild flowers of the grass; #2- a pair of bold wild birds.

Gosto muito do ws #1: Closer view of the flowers.
Um abraço,

Hello José,
The main, panoramic photograph, the large image, the close-up version in ws and the note all collaborate in producing an extraordinary TE-package. I really have a feeling for the shore, especially in seeing the large image. One thing that would make it perfect is a sound track of the waves crashing on the rugged shore.
Have a good week,
Bulent

Filipe

Jose, this is fantastic, the detail is just unbelievable, it is so real. Manually or with your new software the results are notable, I am thinking of trying a stitch and this may make me do it for real. Interestingly, even the small post size shot is very good, great post.

Olá José,
Esta imagem dá gosto de ver. A qualidade é excepcional!

Impressive details in this fine panorama!
I like how the surf from the Atlantic is washing the shore, and the fine light renders great colours...
Seems to me you did well on the post processing!

Jose,
I love panoramic views and this is great !
The sea is easy to access, and very close to a decorated coastline of rocks. A lonely bird singing my hearts song ...
Technically I am so poor about panoramas:( In the future maybe I will try :)
Congrats and have a nice week,

HI Jose
Spectacular vastness ...I love the exposure on the ocean .. and the sense of dimension .. I feel it has sacrificed a touch too much contrast for those wonderful foreground greens .. beautiful waves .. with an interesting parallel of the clouds .. wonderful meditative vastness ... incredible scale .. wonderful. take care, John

Jose,
the panoramic presentation is a very good one and certainly gives a excelent idea of the entire place. The POV with the foreground elements leading into the scene is perfect. However, the image lacks some elements that I'm not quite sure if it is due to the sea mist in the air or the lack of some additional PP work. I have the feeling that needs more contrast and saturation to really pop out of the monitor. The colors are to pastel and this image deserves more impact.

Hi Jose, a very impressive image you get with this panorama. I have visit this place but the sea was then not so wild as at the image. Your stich come out very good the only think to be improved imo is the light at the left rock and also the sharpness at the left is a bit les than the rest. But is not disturbing and i love the ersult.
Best regards

Well done José, this is a really nice large-format post from you. Excellent clarity and detail. I read your reply to Peter and I think maybe you're right that the low contrast is actually realistic - many shots I have taken around the UK coast have this same effect, almost like a haze in the air.

Olá José,
a wonderful preparation for my vacations to see the Atlantic Ocean in such beauty. Wonderful POV for the bay, great capture or the power by all the waves. Superb result and Hugin is a very nice tool, isn't it? I just hear the waves thunder in my ear.
The "V" of the water into the land is wonderful.
Um abraço, Ulf

Very good panorama capture from yourself here, sharpness and colours look very good, I like the subtleness from it, and the bird flying above adds to your composition.
