It takes a while to grasp this picture. Light and shade, what does it mean? In the shade, we can guess a bed, a pillow. On the window, newspaper, blocking the way to (from?) the outside world, colorful and meaningless pieces of papers, full of stories forgotten as soon as they are printed. Football players, celebrities, advertisment, the futile news of modern life, hiding the room from the world, hiding the world from the room.
And then, this silhouette, all dark, no feature visible, someone. A human being, someone alive, someone that feels, thinks, remembers. This is his life, this darkness, this hopeless window... Is he really still someone? Does he belong somewhere? What will happen to him?
Powerful.

one of your strongest phtotographs bogdan
sophie has , i think, written the perfect words for this photograph :)
it didnt take me any time to grasp what was happening since i know what you've been upto :)
apart from sophie's words...
i wonder why the windows have been covered up by newpapers. it's always nice to have some sunlight coming into the room, but in this case, it seems like he's keeping the world away and is therefore hiding from the world.
his staying in the darkness gives the story of his life as a refugee.
i'm curious about one thing boggie, what kind of a refugee is he. i mean does he have another nationality or does he belong to a certain class, tribe what???
this is definitely one of your best photographs
take care :)

Very impressive image, dreadful from the loneliness expressed. But Sophie said it all.
Thank you Bogdan.

This photograph is very strong. In a subtle way telling the story of many refugees, I think. Living in darkness beeing isolated from the outside world and not being able to let the world or the light in. Some times in a very physical concrete way like in this photograph. But very often are the barriers much less visible but still totaly limiting life in a very concrete way. I think you catch all this and a lot more that word can never express in this photograph.

Cheers for this extraterrestrial idea, i'd anyway give you two points for that. Newspapers on a window are a universal sign of social despair.
However there's something I regret : half a silhouette is really tough, in the ideal photo I wish to see, there would be some day light softly highlighting only the edge of his dark silhouette, to give a little more substance to his presence...
