Photographer's Note

taken in Mitrovac, a small village in the heart of the beautiful Tara National Park.

things you can see:
star trails circling the North Star,
Serbian trees feeling sleepy,
our home for three nights smiling brightly,
village lighting polluting the sky :)

things you can't see:
Manfrotto 190proB supporting the camera,
Nikon ML3 remotely firing the shutter,
little torch lightpainting the building for a couple minutes,
CaptureNX and CS3 post processing the original NEF,
horrible color cast in the upper left corner (typical for D70 in exposures that long) making harsh cropping inevitable,
and
gorgeous girlfriend inside the house enjoying NatGeo world music channel next to a most effective wood-burning stove :)

yes, the earth is turning... :)
a beautiful effect you got here, and the light is balanced well. Would have expected that the lit windows are overexposed, but they are not.
Compliments for this half hour of good work.. :)

hello Kostas,
... and yet it turns :) it's fascinating to see these star trails that is as close as we get to observing the rotation of the Earth. impressive 30 min (right?) exposure, and I really like the inviting golden lights of the house, excellent work.
