008 / View of Lake Bled from Mala Osojnica
Slovenia’s foremost tourist attraction, Lake Bled is a postcard perfect lake surrounded by the pine-forested Julian Alps. Its impossibly blue waters swirl under the shadow of the cliff-top Bled Castle, and around the country’s only island – Blejski Otok (with its much photographed baroque Church). The exquisite lake is photogenic from almost any angle, but is best seen after a moderately tough hike up Mala Osojnica, a forested hill that takes in vistas across the lake, castle, and right up to Mount Triglav.
