A quiet corner, a photo from Avila, Castilla y Leon

Photographer's Note

Walking through the Spanish city of Avila, I came across this quiet corner.

Ávila is a Spanish fortified city located in the autonomous community of Castile and León, and is the capital of the Province of Ávila.

It is sometimes called the Town of Stones and Saints, and it claims that it is one of the towns with the highest number of Romanesque and Gothic churches per capita in Spain. It has complete and prominent medieval town walls, built in the Romanesque style. Writer José Martínez Ruiz, in his book El alma castellana (The Castilian Soul), described it as "perhaps the most 16th-century town in Spain". Ávila was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.

It has a long and chequered history dating from the fifth century BC.

A nice little street that hasn't yet been invaded by the international chain stores. No major changes have probably taken place here in many decades. It looks quiet and restful and you handled the colours very well.

Good perspective tapering from right to left. Excellent sharpness and the red door contrasts well with the blue sky. I like the triple arches at top left. Tfs!
