Photographer's Note

I spotted this colonnade close to the Town Hall in the Spanish city of Avila.

Ávila is a Spanish fortified city located in the autonomous community of Castile and León, and is the capital of the Province of Ávila.

It is sometimes called the Town of Stones and Saints, and it claims that it is one of the towns with the highest number of Romanesque and Gothic churches per capita in Spain. It has complete and prominent medieval town walls, built in the Romanesque style. Writer José Martínez Ruiz, in his book El alma castellana (The Castilian Soul), described it as "perhaps the most 16th-century town in Spain". Ávila was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.

It has a long and chequered history dating from the fifth century BC.

Hello Stephen,
Lots of nice stone-work. The colonnade seen through the arch provides fine depth, and the tiles on the ground are very nice too. I like the warm tone of the building seen through the distant arch, like the light at the end of a tunnel.

The colonnade is giving dynamism and depth to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the colonnade and of the arches. The light is giving good rendering of the colours. Have a nice day.

J'aime beaucoup la construction de cette image.Tu utilises bien les colonnes comme ligne de fuite qui pousse le regard vers la porte au loin d'où sort une belle lumière dorée.

Excellent view of the colonnade with the columns leading all the way up to the arch. Excellent depth and sharpness showing us so many textural details of the stonework. The chosen POV with the arch is superb.

Bon effet avec cette perspective pour la profondeur d'image, l'arche guide le regard vers la tour, peut être qu'une visée un peu décalée vers la droite aurait permis de mieux voir la tour, une suggestion
