Photographer's Note
Laundry day at 'La Pedrera'.
La Pedrera was designed and built by Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona.
"Pere Mila and Roser Segimon were an upper class couple who, like most of the well-to-do families of Barcelona wanted to live on Passeig de Gracia, paradigm of bourgeois splendour.
They invested money on a plot of land and put it in the hands of Gaudi. The architect planned a large property with ground floor and five floors and as was the custom, reserved the entire area of the main floor for Mila and his wife, which came to 1,300 metres square.
Nonetheless, differences surged between Gaudi, who at the age of 54 and in full creative maturity wanted to work with complete liberty, and the promoters, who disagreed with the architects high budget and with many of his daring constructive and decorative ideas.
Nor did society seem prepared either for such a radical work: the press of the period is full of examples of jokes that Gaudi's building provoked.
Despite this initial incomprehension, La Pedrera led to the culmination of the personal style the genius had been developing in former works."

Three pictures of the interior, two more in the workshop. Pictures of the exterior next time.

Hello Jean,
A very nice impression of this laundry room with several very appealing details, all captured in a good and clear lighting. Also the composition is very good.

Hello Jean,
This is a kind of ”daily life” or ”people at work” photo, even though nobody is seen. It’s like the person doing the ironing has just left the room but will be back any moment. It’s the most original photo of the three you show us, but both WS are in a way more beautiful. The furniture in both of them is (are?) just fantastic.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Jean,
I love wooden furniture, particularly stylish examples and appreciate them in your w/s but, have to admit, that the different shapes and linking, whites, in your main photograph, make it the most exciting.
My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Hi Jean,
My first thought when I saw the miniature was: why is she showing us her laundry room, ha ha
But the note explained it all :)
Nice reportage from this famous place,

Hello Jean,
I don't know about you ... I find that this kind of 'household chores' is very therapeutic - sewing and ironing.
To nurture my feminine side ... :-)
To be honest, I've seen such a small charcoal iron. This housekeeping room is very bright and airy. I could smell fresh clean linen in the room.
I do love the warm and cosy , dining room in the WS1. The good old Art Nouveau's style.
Tfs,
Loong
