Photographer's Note
I am going to start a series of photos dedicated to the city of Cuenca, a city not well-known for the great tourism, but that is worth taking into account, although for 3 years I was in it, during a weekend, I have not come to upload any photo and I think it deserves to be known a little.
----------
Cuenca is a municipality belonging to the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha and capital of the province of the same name. The municipality counted on an enumerated population of 55,428 inhabitants in 2015.
Although in the environs of the city one has evidence of population from the Upper Paleolithic, it is not until the Muslim conquest when the fortress of Qūnka is constructed, that gave origin to the present city. This one was, in origin, among the others of the Santaver (Ercávica), but was gaining importance gradually.
The Christian king Alfonso VIII conquered it in 1177 and granted him the Fuero de Cuenca, one of the most prestigious in the history of Castile. Its economy was centered in the textile industry, of great renown during the XV and XVI centuries, which produced a great constructive activity. However, drapery sank in the seventeenth century, leading to a drastic loss of population, which was recovering over the next century.
In 1833 it became the capital of the new province of Cuenca, although the agitations of the period caused the city to remain in a precarious state well into the twentieth century. At present, the economy is mainly focused on tourism, boosted since its old town was declared a World Heritage Site in 1996.
Cuenca preserves an important historical and architectural heritage, which extends throughout the old city, although focused on buildings such as the Cathedral or the Hanging Houses, which have become the symbol of the city.
It is also characterized by having a number of museums (more than 10) in the small space of the old city. Among them are the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art, the Museum of Sciences of Castilla-La Mancha and the Museum of Cuenca. Among the main cultural events are the Holy Week and the Religious Music Week.
-------------------------------------------------

Hello Luis,
What an amazing location of this town, high and proud on top of the cliffs, quite close to the edge too. Your POV shows this place really well and the bright sunlight is great. The church on the right hand side adds depth.

Hello Luis,
I visited Cuenca in the second half of May (a few years ago) and to my surprise it was very cold there.
I see that you've been there in February. So I guess this clear blue sky caused winter temperatures.
Although I spent several days in Cuenca (and I've posted 5 pictures of this town on this site) I don't have a photo taken on the same point of view.
Wonderful view high on the cliffs.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Luis,
The cities somewhat off the main tourist tracks are often the most rewarding ones. Even in these times it is possible to catch the true spirit of the city among its own inhabitants. So your introduction to this series makes me curious to discover Cuenca in your company. The journey starts well with this magnificent view of the city balancing on the edge of the high rocks above the valley. The church on the right side is well placed in a rather dramatic setting.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hola Luis,
impressive the view of this section of Cuenca that looks like to be hanged in the steep rocks. The brilliant light enhance the clarity and the sharpness of the image with the details to are captured and presented superb.
This scene reminds me a section of Caldera of Santorini island seeing it from the sea.
Excellent presentation.

Bonsoir, cher Luis,

Excelente luz.
Parabéns!

Hello Luis,
Is it the end of your Scandinavian pictures? I am looking forward to seeing Cuenca, it is rarely shown here. I was in beautiful town of Cuenca (UNESCO site), but it was in Ecuador :). Impressive view with these rocks. Strange with this uniform colours of rocks and houses.

Hi Luis
A historic old town with the 'hanging houses' sitting high comfortably on unique and steep looking rock formation. I like the perspective, detail, colour saturation and contrast to blue sky is just awesome, Excellent shot, Congrats

Built upon the edges of a giant rocks, immediately I had recall Ronda, but saw that it looks a bit different, Luis.
Took this magnificent sight from an effective distant point, well included that wide valley.
Buen tadres,

Hola Luis!!

Hola Luis,
great point of view. Fantastic panoramic view of this town.
Interesting labirynth of roads and paths in the foreground.
We can also spot a nice church facade in the right.
Indeed although I have heard the name of this town I wouldn't be able to place it on a map.
Looking forward to see your reportage,

Hola, Luis!
Excelente trabajo!
