Photographer's Note

Alfonso VIII street is one of the main streets of the upper city, in the heart of the historical center of Cuenca, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1996.

It is a long street that runs along the road that goes from the back of the Town Hall, in the Plaza Mayor, to the Plaza del Carmen, and near the exit to the new area of the city.

It is one of the main arteries of the old town as it is a key place for access to this area of traffic. It is also a street that draws attention to the colorful colors of the facades of its buildings.

In Alfonso VIII there are also three churches: the one of San Felipe Neri, the one of San Andrés and the one of El Salvador.

La calle Alfonso VIII es una de las principales de la ciudad alta, en pleno centro histórico de Cuenca, declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO desde 1996.

Es una calle larga que recorre el camino que va desde la parte trasera del Ayuntamiento, en la plaza Mayor, hasta la plaza del Carmen, ya cerca de la salida hacia la zona nueva de la ciudad.

Constituye una de las principales arterias del casco antiguo ya que es un lugar clave para el acceso a esta zona del tráfico. También es una calle que llama la atención por el bonito colorido de las fachadas de sus edificios.

En Alfonso VIII también se encuentran tres iglesias: la de San Felipe Neri, la de San Andrés y la de El Salvador.

As told you before, Luis, this town is not so known to the average tourists, but looks very typical.
Found an effective POV downhill the street with a wine store on right and local dwelling on lefty.
Red cars added warm tone to the scene.

I like the alternating colours of the buildings facades and the curving street. Good sharpness and excellent sharpness and framing. Good warm cold color contrasts between the red and blue, both the cars and the sky and building. Tfs!

Comme quoi, le site est une sorte d'addiction, et l'on a du mal à s'en passer.
C'est vrai qu'il est quand même bien agréable de pouvoir sortir de notre quotidien en découvrant d'autres lieux, des sites plus ou moins prestigieux, en un mot "découvrir".

Hello Luis,
I remember this street with its colourful facades. I've also posted a picture of it but taken from the other side.
Beautifully presented with the curve of the street and with the lantern well positioned in the part with the blue sky.
I also like the wrought iron balconies, so typical for Spain.

Hello Luis, It was difficult time without TE but fortunately TE works again and we can share our pictures with the friends. Beautiful view of Cuenca, Nice colourful houses with balconies. Interesting with the white frames. Nice old signs. I like this composition on the corner. Charming view. There are so many beautiful towns in Spain, not possible to visit them all.

Curving streets always attract me more than straight views, so you found a position of my liking for this photo. The houses look nice and the small shop on the right side could be worth a visit. The cars provide bright colours. I would have preferred people, but what can you do?

Buenos Días Luis!!

Conozco bien esta calle... una tía mía vivió en la casa gris que vemos en el centro de la imagen...curioso porque tenías que bajas un par de pisos y aún así vivía en un cuarto!! La explicación es que son las casas que se ven desde el otro lado del puente, todas esas ventanas al lado de las casa colgadas... Te ha pasado como en mi última visita a la ciudad...la luz tan fuerte en el cielo hacía difícil el control del contraste...pero aquí está muy bien...

A pretty historic street scene, super harmonious coloured facade is indeed a great draw here, apart from its aged and charming feel. This lends it some visual impact while the vivid colour of the vehicles is a real booster to the whole scene. A clean image crisp and sharp adding so much to the overall impression of the cute place.
