St Francis Fountain, a photo from Cordoba, Andalucia

Photographer's Note

A tile mosaic and fountain on the wall of the Iglesia de San Francisco (St Francis Church). It reminded me of the blue & white Portuguese azulejo tiles. Perhaps it is the same? Azulejo tiles are also popular in Spain. It depicts the Virgin Mary and Cherubs.

Azulejo are painted tin-glazed ceramic tileworks, mostly in blue and white.

Like you, this reminded me of Portuguese azulejo tiles.

This is a very beautiful fountain. Your close crop has given sharp attention to the tiled picture and its surrounding decoration. There are no distractions to this fine shot.

Hello Chris,
Portuguese style in Cordoba, and no wonder about it. The rown is not far from the neighboring country and in older era it was on the main merchants routes betwen.

I would have thought this to be Portuguese, but they're neighbouring countries so the cultures are not entirely different. It's a beautiful fountain in any case, and I like the wall too. The photo is sharp and well exposed and also nicely cropped.

A beautiful photo of this fountain and the mosaic above it. The blue of the tiles is really appealing and makes a fine contrast with the yellowish wall around it.

very characteristic motif from Spain or Portugal indeed. I even have some blue colored titles as souvenirs on my wall as well.
Great capture here with fantastic quality in spite of the shade.

yes, this panel could be portuguese. but the style is more "sophisticated" , we can feel the differences, but in spain these artworks aren't so usual as in portugal. very beautiful the fountain and the artwork.
