Taken with a pinch of salt, a photo from Lanzarote, Canarias

Photographer's Note

There is a phrase in English language “you should take it with a pinch of salt”.
Well, I took this photo with a lot of salt in the frame, ha ha. This photo presents a scene from the Salinas de Janubio. Most people in their photos from salinas show lovely colorful pools with the sea water evaporating to produce the salt. I showed such a photo from Salinas on La Palma Island:

This time I wanted to focus on the charming mounds of salt. After showing camels cruising the desert-like landscape, I was tempted to title this picture “pyramids of Lanzarote”.
These Salinas are a short drive from the Lago Verde.

An interesting fact: eruptions in 1730 created on Lanzarote more volcanic cones than the number of salt mounds which you can see in this photo.

This is my 100th photo from Spain. Spain is the 6th country from which I have 100 uploaded photos here. It is the first country among them in which I didn’t live for at least 2 years.

Hi Mariusz,I don't agree on the black and white version but I accept it ... after all the best effect comes from the salt cones and this time the colors weren't so important. You have reached 100 photos from this country too, a great achievement without a doubt! Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Nie dziwie sie, ze masz tyle zdjec z Hiszpanii, bo tez uwielbiam ten kraj (czego moze nie widac na moim portfolio na TE, ale na samej tylko Majorce bylam juz 5 razy).
Swietne zdjecie, na ktorym ksztalty i wzory wazniejsze sa niz kolor, wiec dobry miales pomysl, zeby przedstawic je w wersji czarnobialej (moze byl to tez jeden z tych dni, kiedy, jak wspominales, nie dopisala pogoda; jezeli tak, to gratuluje, ze, z powodu chmur, nie zmarnowales okazji do zrobienia tego super zdjecia).
Super uchwycony kontrast i perspektywa.

Po kolorowym zawrocie glowy wczesniejszych postow teraz wywazona kompozycja cz-b. Przypomina to troche magazyn uzyskanego urobku z wody morskiej ze znacznie wiekszego obszaru. Ciekawe porownanie ze stozkami wulkanicznymi. Gratulacje okraglej ilosci postow z tego kraju.

Hello Mariusz,
In Dutch we have a similar expression as in English.
I try to imagine how big these cones of salt are but that's not so simple because there are no bushes or trees or people around. But it will be pretty big pinches, I believe.
Congratulations with your 100th photo of Spain.
In my gallery I only have one country with more than 100 pictures (and I didn't live there).

A great photo of those many small hills of salt, which look so good in the bright sunlight and against the darker backdrop, which is emphasised even more by your choice for B&W. We have got the same saying in Dutch as well. :-)

My first idea by thumbnail, this are the old anti tank field out of WW II. Almost an unique image.
But when i saw the salt piramides in little version, was everything oké

Hello Mariusz,

An interesting experiment which I feel has worked well.

The mounds of salt really stand out in your photograph and before reading your notes, could be a line of bell tents, Chinese hats, cones, in fact, a whole host of things, but for sure the shapes stand out noticeably!

Before opened the thumbnail, I knew it is a salt piles - but it looked as small hats display or a tents camp...
B&W works fine for this take.

Sensational photo in B&W, the perfect salt cones seem to want to compete with the enormous number of volcanic cones, it seems that with your photos I am going to discover new places on the island where I have not been, I will be pointing them out in case I visit again the Island.
A fantastic graphics, with an adequate management of lighting and sharpness.

a marvelous visual effect with repetition of conic shapes in an artistic image in B&W. I liked a lot the result.
here in brazil most part of our production of salt is located in rio grande do norte state, with many sun, sea and wind to produce salt, not so far from lanzarote..
