As you look at the exterior of La Pedrera, you might not be aware that the wrought iron is made from recycled scrap iron.
"Wrought iron is the only material that decorates Casa Mila's rocky facade. Antoni Gaudi worked on its abstract design with one of his usual collaborators, another architect, Josep Marai Jujol.

The iron railings all follow the same idea and treatment, but are all different. Amongst naturalist abstract shapes multiple figurative elements can be appreciated."
