Photographer's Note

I have always liked this view of the minaret of Stockholm's central mosque and the dome of Katarina kyrka rising side by side, as seen from the steps of a market hall at Medborgarplatsen on Södermalm island. You can see the dome of the mosque just above the trees.

In reality there is some distance between the Muslim and Christian temples. The camera lens makes them look closer than the 300 meters separating them.

I could have tried to make you believe that the flags in the foreground are prayer flags belonging to a Buddhist temple outside this view, but they are just decorations flying over the square.

But the Catholic cathedral is just about 100 meters to the right, and an estimated 500 meters to the left is an orthodox synagogue.

In the WS is a wider view.

The Google cameraman didn't climb the steps, but the Map: view will show you approximately this view. You can see the steps under the neon sign SÖDERHALLARNA and imagine me standing there.
