Photographer's Note

On a warm and sunny day in August I saw these two elderly men looking like hippies from the late 1960's selling various trinkets. I was mainly attracted by the tapestries showing portraits of Frida Kahlo behind one stall. I had seen the owner in another part of the island one month earlier. You can see that meeting in the WS.

Of course I have no idea if these gentlemen lived like hippies more than half a century ago and absolutely not if they follow that kind of lifestyle today. Maybe they were only dressed for a warm day. Perhaps I could call them "hippies emeriti".

Frida Kahlo (1907–1954) was a Mexican artist best known for her unglamorous self-portraits showing her characteristic eyebrows.

One WS shows a closer look at the Frida Kahlo stall. In the other is the photo I took in July.
