Photographer's Note

Here's another photo from my relatively recent archive, from July 2016. During that summer Stockholm's Museum of modern art (Moderna museet) featured a large exhibition of works by the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama (born in 1929). She is a painter, sculptor, makes installations and performance art and a lot more.

Kusuma is mainly known for the polka dots featured in most of her works. They are said to have come to her through hallucinations she started having already as a child. She had a troubled childhood and has never hidden the fact that she has a history of mental illness.

The main photo is, as you can see, from a yellow room with black dots and mirrors. The next room features white dots on red and a number of sculptures.

Here is a larger version.

In one WS you can meet the artist, while another WS shows her well known three-dimensional reflecting polka dots.

Soon after I had been to this exhibition I posted a photo from the museum garden, but for some reason I never took you inside.
