Photographer's Note
Today I show you three photos all featuring Stockholm's City Hall. They also show different stages of the advancement of spring in Stockholm.
The City Hall is probably the best known building in Stockholm. It was built between 1908 and 1923. The architect Ragnar Östberg was inspired mainly by Venetian Renaissance, but also by Islamic art and Nordic Gothic architecture.
The main photo was taken on March 19 from a quay on the northern side of Södermalm island. It is a very plain photo, but I liked how only the top of the tower was reflected in a part of the water where the ice had melted.
An earlier and a later view across the water, taken from different places, can be seen in the WS.

An amazing sight, Gert, cityscape on a bright day and ice floating on the water, great contrast.
Rightly chosen the maoin post, partial reflection of the tower - but the broken ice makes most attraction here.
Have a nice friday,
Ike

Hi Gert,
I appreciate the reflections on the water. The point of view is showing the details of the City Hall. The quality of the light beautifies the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Gert, how fortunate for you that the tower was reflected on the water. I like that between the building and the reflection we see ice. I also like the slight blurring of the reflection.
A lovely observation.
Two workshop shots are good complements.
Thanks. Kind regards, Jean.

I liked these three images with the same theme but with marvelous variations and style.the good light and the blue sky ever add a touch of beauty.
here we are having goods amounts of rain, good for those who planted winter corn or have cows in a pasture and bad for those who are harvesting soybean.
take care

Hej Gert,
All those blocks of ice make this view quite special. The time frame when it is possible to see such view is indeed quite narrow. Details on top of the tower are original, especially the three crowns.

Hi Gert,a beautiful series of the same place on different days to see the differences on the frozen carpet, from its compactness to almost complete melting. Great main perspective, excellent choice to show only the tip of the tower in the reflections to give space to the frozen surface, super quality! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Gert, Well known view, rather postcardish. But with this frozen surface and partial reflections looks original.
Charming composition.

Hello Gert,
A set of fine photos of Stockholm City Hall. I can't decide whether the main entry of "recadrage" is my favorite.
Regards,
MT
PS. I agree with you on "Quite a Stir." Why didn't I think of that? Thanks for the WS.

Hi Gert,
I like the repetition of the arches which I never really noticed before and of course the reflection in the icy water is superb. Good sharpness too. Tfs!

Hello Gert,
Gosh, I would have struggled with these photographs, as to which to use as main post!
I can fully understand why you chose the one that you did, which places everything in context and the details are so crisp! But ... I do love the reflection, where the tower looks like a piece of Impressionism and the details of the cracked iced are wonderful!
By seeing them all, we can pick and choose without a problem!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hej Gert,
Et klassisk billede med Stadshuset i Stockholm, der står og nyder forårslyset så smukt på den anden side af vandet, som stadig viser resterne af vinteren. Reflektionen i vandet er så smuk og fortjener sit eget billede!

Hi Gert.
Great composition with a perfect framing, including in the shot the reflection of the tower in that area of the water free of ice, the City Hall looks great on the half-frozen sea.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Very well done. Love it.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.
P.S. About my photo it's been about two years since I retouched it on the computer, and I don't remember what effects I put on it.

Hello Gert,
The City Hall is indeed probably the most famous building in Stockholm.
If I remember well, you once wrote that from now on it is no longer possible to climb the tower. Very regrettable. From there you have wonderful views.
I think I would also make the same choice for the main photo, but actually all three photos give a beautiful presentation of the town hall.
Is the ice in this place ever so thick that one can cross on it? If so, is that allowed? Perhaps there is always a certain flow of water so that the entire ice does not get frozen ...
You used the wonderful sunny winter days well to take good photos!
Best regards, Paul

Hello Gert,
This is an excellent composition. There is a perfect break in the ice to reflect the lovely City Hall building, and the actual view of the architecture is impressive. It seems that ice hangs around for a while in Stockholm. The weather here has been crazy: warm and sunny one day, and freezing the next. It's like riding a weather roller coaster! Take care...

Hello Gert,
This is the best close-up 'appearance' of this city hall , surrounded by the melting ice and the partly reflection of the tower.
Too bad the water surface is a bit rippling ... it's not that bad as it is ... I think it would be better a 'clear-mirror-image' reflection :-)
Wow ... the before and after , photos in the WS. What a huge difference!
One thing I'm really fancy to ride ... is this Kawasaki. What a 'fast & furious' looking beast ! I do like the rider ... matching jacket and boots.
Tfs,
Loong

Hi Gert
I really like this series as it shows well how the weather changes in Stockholm in from late winter to early spring. Usually only someone living close to a location has the advantage of showcasing this kind of phenomenon and that's the case here!
I love the main photo for the colourful and party blurred reflection but also the details of partly crushed ice. It works so well that I'm going to add this upload to my fav theme!
Best wishes
Kasia
