Photographer's Note

This is a couple of street dancers at Parc des Bastions. As you might have noticed, if you have seen my previous posts, each corner of this park can be a source of enchantment….

…either if you’re sleepy …

… or dreamy …

… or simply in heaven …

I liked the perspective of having three persons in this photograph, each one at a different level of distance. The man in the background, completely immobile between the two dancers in movement, gives a bizarre mood to the composition, as if it was intended.

I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between hip hop, street dance, break dance, or whatever. The only thing that I am sure of, is that they were having real, real fun. And I had myself real fun watching them.

hi Gal, it is a nice shot. i really like the compo with the guy in the background and two others on both sides. the only thing that bothers me here is the pose of the guy on the left, his one foot is cropped - imo we should see his both feet or you should have come a bit closer and crop him much more... anyway, i like this shot, well seen, good stuff

this compo is spot on and makes the photo! bravo also for your choice of b&w! i discovered the other 3 photos at the same time and must admit i like them very much too;-) bravo for the catch!

Your street shots are something great Gal

I like the almost mirror effect of the two left gentlemen; both facing the same direction towards the third. Only criticism would be the cutting off of the nearest dancer's feet, shot would be a little bit more balanced if they were retained. B/W conversion is gorgeous; nice and contrasty but plenty of detail on the whole.

Great photo. I like the composition, the placement of the three men is spot-on. Very interesting moment, and a great note to accompany the photo. Well done!

Hi Gal,
I like the contrast between the movement of the two dancers (wearing the same hat)and the stillness of the man in the background (wearing a different hat).

It seems that the man in background is waiting for his turn to start dancing: an invisible cable will bring him the electricity produced by other two guys.

It looks like a painting frozen in time Gal. The clarity and depth is good. I like the nonchalant looks on the faces of your subjects -- they seem all at once to be real & yet a bit otherwordly too. I guess the black & white helps create that atmosphere. An interesting, well thought out composition.

Greatly composed shot, Gal! I admire how you do B&W in this perfect way. Here everyone has his own posture and radiates specific feelings, so it is unique capture. Excellent!

Excellent street shot Gal. J'aime cette composition avec un personnage par plan et avec une attitude différente. Dommage pour le pied coupé, toutefois la scène se "lit" très bien. Le n/b est parfait. C'est celle que je préfère!

I hve no more point today, but would like to comment on your photo.

Good B/W, excellent light and contast, vell compoced steet photo, I thing it is good fore the perspective haveing 3 person in the pic.

I do thing then it is dance you are showing, that the feed are crop on the person in front.

A priori, on pourrait reprocher à votre photo les pieds coupés de l'homme au premier plan. Pourtant le regard de celui de droite justement à cet endroit attise le mystère et rend ce choix (ou hasard?) judicieux. La posture du troisième homme est tout à fait sympathique.

Je trouve que le peu d'informations visibles rend l'image superbe ; le regard ne se perd pas comme sur certaines des précédents. C'est de l'excellent boulot.

Magnifique travail et, à mon avis, image très nettement superieure à d'autres du même thème.

Bravo!
