Photographer's Note
The Matterhorn (German), Monte Cervino (Italian) or Mont Cervin (French), is a mountain in the Pennine Alps on the border between Switzerland and Italy.
Its summit is 4,478 metres high, making it one of the highest peaks in the Alps. That year, the glacier had been melting due to record heat wave, causing rockfalls. It was said that was the warmest July ever recorded in the past 250 years.
The mountain overlooks the town of Zermatt in the canton of Valais to north-east. This is where this picture was taken from.
