Photographer's Note
Under the heavy clouds, a pigeon is watching over the old city of Zurich. The picture was taken in the end of the afternoon, when the light was favourable. POV is from the small garden above the Limmat river. The city cathedral seen in the centre was built in the 11 and 13C, supposedly on the site of a collegiate church founded by Charlemagne. Framing the façade are two high towers topped with wooden cupolas covered with sheets of metal. The south tower is decorated with a huge statue of Charlemagne (the original is in the crypt).
It's been a while since I posted on TE for the last time due to some heavy commitments at work. Hopefully, I'll be able to be more present at the site in the future...

welcome back, alex
you've returned with a fine image. the b&w is a fine choice. it really brings out the details, both of sky and buildings. the pigeon just tops it off. well done!

Privet Alexander,
Long time no see, welcome back !
That's a well framed view of ZH, I like this silhouette foreground with the pigeon, it gives depth and (wild-)life, I'm not at all a BW specialist but it looks good and well contrasted to me.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hallo Alexander,
Groeten,
John

Hi Alexander,
The background of the photograph is just good but the inclusion of the bird over the beam at the foreground gives it a wonderful look.Excellent pov, angle of view and the perspective looks brilliant.
Regards.

What? Alexander Pasternak? Is that really you, THE Alexander Pasternak who spoiled me with his touching critiques? THE Alexander Pasternak who gives us excellent B&W photos? THE Alexander Pasternak who were one of the finest members of TE? Welcome back, dear Alexander. But please, don't burn yourself. Take it easy. Just be there. [And I don't mean in my gallery. Though... :)))]
Again, a really good B&W conversion. It is almost incredible to see that it was made with the little Canon A95. The white is white and the black is black. Don't laugh, it seems to be quite rare these days! :)) Obviously, the icing on the cake here is the beam with the dove (dove seems more poetic than pigeon!).
Oh well, Alexander, I am not able to be "objective" (is that possible anyway???). I am too happy to see you around!

Ciao Alexander,
Great dramatic view: good choice to post it B&W. The pigeon on the forground seems to control this spectacular and well composed view.
Very good job.
See you soon...

Hi Alexander,
Nice to hear from you...
Good contrasty B&W shot. Showing a lot of sky gives an illusion of being much higher than on the level of rooftops. Inclusion of the pigeon gives a different perspective.

great composition. Perfect definition and a delicious sky. The light is very good - it must be good in color too.

Hello Sacha,
Impressive clouds indeed and beautiful framing with the black bird. Perhaps I would prefer a smaller support for the bird. The light is very favourable for sure.
Keep well - Izzet

Hello Alexander,
I believe that sometimes colors distract the mind from the main message of a photo. As a B&W photos lover, I really like the black and white tones of this shot. Well done!
Have a nice Sunday,
Abbas
