Photographer's Note

Today Ukrainian former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was sentenced to seven years in jail for exceeding her powers when signing a gas deal with Russia. Whether she is guilty or not is beyond me, but a number of governments, organizations and other commentators in "the West" have condemned the trial as a political process aiming to keep her out of the way during the next elections.

Since Ms Tymoshenko was arrested and put on trial in early August hundreds of her followers have been camping non stop outside the court house in central Kiev (spelled Kyiv in Ukrainian). As this was just a few blocks from where I was staying during a visit to the Ukrainian capital in September, I had several chances to visit the camp and take some photos. Not everyone was terribly excited by my camera.

A couple of other pictures from the Tymoshenko camp can be seen as workshops.
