Photographer's Note
Everyone seems to be doing these reflections so I thought I would give it a try too.
This is from the centre of Kiev, also spelled Kyiv; capital of Ukraine. A bank office is reflected in the glass panes of a hotel. Or maybe it was the other way around.
Just for a change this is not a scan but a fairly recent digital photo.

It's been done, but you also did it well. Nice abstract interpretation. vertical are straight. Make it a touch darker, add a keyline, and clone out the intruding light fixture onl the right edge and you'll have a perfect picture.

Zdorovenki buly, Gert,
Amazing twisted psyhodelic reflection. It looks like a house of mirrors for the buildings.
I am lost in conjecture .... How your visit is related to the Timoshenko problem or to the Euro -2012 boycott???
I hope to know it not from TV news.

Hello Gert
Reflections are always a good subject. The combination of shapes, the undulations, the colors, make a sight often fascinating.
Personnally, I don't resist to photograph all kind of reflections. And I think that this kind of pictures deserves a bit of post-processing to bring some fun, like an abstract painting. Your facade is perhaps a little dull... That's what I try to do in a WS. Hope you don't mind.
I cut the upper part, less interesting, to bring the two opened windows out. And I play with levels, contrat, and colours to propose you a fanciful version ;o)

hello Gert
The photo seems to me a little bit flat, and as Karine, I think that the upper part with the sky an no real interest. But I like very much the WS of Karine that shows that it was a good picture that it was worth to have taken.

I really love the pic. With a little bit more contrast it would have been a wonderful ink/watercolour painting. Also - it does bring Barcelona to mind....

Hi Gert
Yes It's good ideas to explore new area of great interest such as this shot of your version. I like the strength of the parallel lines to hold the focus on and the mixture of reflections of the buildings opposite. Each pane of glass is distorted by gravity and gives a different perspective of the scene opposite and each could be a photograph in its own right. I've been staring at it for a while. For some reason requires a lot of looking at to discern what is going on there and my first impression is that it is too busy but that there is hidden beauty in it, almost a modern abstract!. Creative approach with greater concentration, while the reflection appeals. A fine works, TFS
Warm regards

Hej Gert,
Ulf

Dear Gert,
these reflections are a real challenge for the photographer! They are really very fascinating and you captured them very well but I have to admit that the WS by Karine is an improvement indeed. And I think that this is what TE is for. Thanks for sharing!

Ciao Gert,
Perhaps this is your first digital photo I see, this great, I like the graphics and reflections, the two open windows break up the monotony of the image, very beautiful brown tones with all its nuances, I would have corrected the slight distortion of the lens or cropped the image slightly, but are subtleties, great shot...have a lovely day...

Hi Gert,
Great graphism in this photo. Not you usual style by I like it. Looking at your photo somehow Descartes came to my mind. "I see the boat in the sea and it looks small, I see it on the port and it looks big, is it big or small? I doubt my eyes!".
Very eye catching photo.

hello Gert,
something different from you! AS well as street photography, my favourite kind of pictures are ones with a strong graphical element.I like the colour palette here. It reminds me of photos taken at La Defense by photographer 'marietom' and just as good.

ps Watched a TV programme this eveing about the street children of Kiev. There are thousand of them. Very disturbing.

what's really neat and interesting about this reflection scene is how we can see the individual balconies in the windows, like sections.

Gert,
I almost passed this up in the thumbnail as it just did not seem that there was anything but a glass wall. When I opened it, wow, it is incredible. Each window pane is like an individual abstract painting, seemingly reflecting something different. I wonder if the architect planned for this. All of the colours are from the same limited pallet making it a very unified photo. Love it.

Hello Gert,
I like this study of the rows and columns of a mathematical matrix, and simultaneously an abstract piece of art. I am always fascinated in seeing smooth glass plate, produced with precise tolerance, producing so much distortion. I wonder if Gaudi was inspired by seeing this sort of distortion in plate glass when he designed one of his signature buildings in Barcelona.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Good evening Gert,
Each window pan shows a different sight, and the whole make it as one big mirror of the opposite side building.
A well cropped and framed photo, clear and distinct.
My best regards,

Hello Gert,
A fantastic effect !
The picture looks a little like a collage of many photos with reflections.
Amazing that the different windows provide so many different distortions of the same building.
Best regards, Paul

Gert, the hotel facade in glass reflects what is around or in front of it. It creates a blurred effect and it is difficult to recognize the building. An abstract shot. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
