Photographer's Note

You can't go to Stowe Gardens without being impressed by the magnificence of the house itself.

This view is of the South Front, looking across the Octagonal Lake, over the lawn, now part of a golf course.

The Gardens are decorated with over 40 buildings and statues; there is a view which suggests the house itself is the central embellishment of the garden, rather, than as one might suppose, that the gardens are merely an adjunct to the house.

However your sensitivities may view this thought, the two sit very well together, and indeed both are now such an integral part of the whole the question becomes irrelevant.

Anywhere that belonged to a family the last of whom was named Richard Plantagenet Campbell Temple-Nugent-Brydges-Chandos-Grenville, as a consequence of a 'propensity to marry heiresses' must have a fascinating history.
