Photographer's Note
Taken at Dunstanburgh Castle, on the Northumberland Coast, near the village of Craster.
When I set out to take this shot, I had originally intended to capture the castle in the full glow of the Winter Sunset, which at this time in late February, strikes the castle from left to right, giving a wonderful glow to the towers and walls.
As usual, however, I was late, and only managed to grab a few shots from much further away, before the sun dipped below the horizon. I decided to make the most of it however, when I spotted the dramatic cloud formation, and set up my tripod to allow a long exposure, blurring the water.

I love long exposures of the shoreline. The ocean looks like mist. The primary subject is too distant and small. It is great to see it in its setting, but it is hard to make out what it is.

Nice shot, good foreground interest, great sea and sky and the composition works really well with the sea holding the right and the strip of shingle balancing it and leading to the ruins.
Well done & welcome to TE.

Oh my, James, this is so dreamy and dramatic, like a scene from a Cecile de Mille movie. The sky is so foreboding and the sea is an oozing mass of living jelly. It is such a menacing scene you got here. Love it! And welcome to TrekEarth!

Wow! The mood of your photo is so mysterious. The foreground adds interest and leads the eye straight to the castle ruins. I couldn't resist trying a workshop on such a mysterious place.

The long exposure has certainly given this shot a wonderful magical feel to it, especially on the ocean. Well done.

The exposure time really makes this shot, the contrast between the foreground with the smooth waves and the near silhuette of the castle in the distance creat a great effect, Well done!
