Photographer's Note

The fourth shot in my Transience series...

Taken about midway through a superb sunset. The sheltered bay I was shooting in had little in the way of foreground interest. There was the odd rock and the gently lapping water, but nothing really substantial.

However set back from the shoreline on a slipway was this lovely little boat - perfect foreground material.

This is a long exposure - 8 seconds at f/22. This was necessary to bring out enough foreground details and colour. This is an occasion where I tried using fill-flash, but I wasn't happy with the results I was getting - too many deep shadows making the flash obvious.

Post processing was pretty minimal - I did spend some time dodging and burning the details of the boat, but otherwise this is an 'as was' image.

Thanks for looking
