Photographer's Note

An Annan haaf net fisherman walks out across the Solway sands to fish for Salmon. In the distance are stacked metal poles used for hanging poke nets, another way of fishing on the Solway. The land hump you see is Waterfoot and is at the mouth of the river Annan where there is a cairn erected to Robbie Burns, Scotland's national poet (bard). It has a compass type thing that shows the distance from Annan to many far flung places in the world as Burns spent time in Annan as an excise (customs) man.
