Royal Mail plc (Welsh: Post Brenhinol; Scottish Gaelic: a' Phuist Rìoghail) is a postal service and courier company in the United Kingdom, originally established in 1516.
For most of its history, Royal Mail has been a public service, operating as a government department or public corporation. However, following the Postal Services Act 2011,a majority of the shares in Royal Mail were floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2013. The UK government initially retained a 30% stake in Royal Mail, but sold its remaining shares in 2015, ending 499 years of public ownership.
As of 2013, Royal Mail employs around 150,000 permanent postal workers. An additional 18,000 casual workers are employed during November and December to assist with the additional Christmas post.

Bonjour Claude ,
Rouge sur rouge , mais ça marche bien . La tenue du postier n'est pas des plus élégantes , mais en France ce n'est guère mieux .
Ah , où sont passés les beaux uniformes d'antan ...

Salut Claude
Red is always a very attractive colours in photography but finding a composition with all subjects red seems almost impossible! And yet you managed exactly that. :-)
Intersting note on RM.
Bonne semaine

Hello Claude
Great daily life scene from little Brtain. There's not much grandeur to working for the Royal Mail. Even the "Royal" adjective seems to have lost its blingbling along the way...sad, but true.

Bonjour Claude,
You've written a fine interesting note about the origins of the Royal Mail service and also given us a lovely candid shot absolutely full of red! No Royal Mail post box here but the colour is what we often refer to as "post box red" or "pillar box red"! And although the little invalid scooter obviously doesn't belong to the Post Office employee, nonetheless it was fortunate that it is also bright red!
Very well seen and taken - and with a fine strong diagonal composition too.
Brilliant!
Kind Regards,
John.
