From the Aarrgghhhh... Castle - :) - to another famous castle, the Eilean Donan Castle. Here we enjoyed better weather and the sky was spectacular!

Eilean Donan is recognised as one of the most iconic images of Scotland all over the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most visited and important attractions in the Scottish Highlands.
Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries.

Hello Viviane,
Marvelous contrast from the hills on the background under shadows, and the well lit castle.
This castle is one famous location for tourists, though I found the outside surrounding more interesting than the indoor's exhibition in its different chambers.
Had you have the chance to see otters on the rocks around the edifice? We learnt those are drequent visitors there, but we did not have this chance.
One of my take's on this post, low tide is very notable there.

Hello Viviane,

As I said in my message, Monty Python has been playing on my monitor for about an hour! I am so easily distracted from what I should be doing!! But, what fun!!

You had better weather when you were taking this so you get the benefit of not only excellent details of the castle, with the complement of reflections but the sky also looks great.
I really like how just one peak is highlighted in the b/g, encouraging a natural movement across the frame, on a diagonal.

It is a great shot!!

My elder son has been there in August 2017, and I sticked his picture taken ther into the family Photo album just couple of hurs ago...

Despite the beauty of the complete scene, may I draw your attention to an interesting detail: please compare the Scottish flag in front of the castle with the white sea gull and her reflection on blue water. I assume that's the way the Scots composed their national symbol!

Hello Viviane, an excellent composition from a very good point of view as we look straight across the water towards the castle.
Is this one of the most photographed castles in Scotland do you think?
I like the inclusion of the bridge with the arches. And of course the Scottish flag leaving us in no doubt as to which country you are in.

Hello dear Viviane,

I suppose this is probably the most famous or, at least, most photographed castle in Scotland but I have always found it remarkably difficult to photograph because, any time that I have been here, the light always seems to be in the wrong direction!

But the light was kind to you this day, lighting up the walls of the castle perfectly and making them stand out brilliantly against the dark hills and beneath a glorious sky. And the calm water has provided some very attractive reflections too.

Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and composition and exquisite details and sharpness.

Hi Viviane

This is not the conventionnal picture of this castle but you played well with the lighed areas and the shadowy ones, you could have lowered a little bit the camera in order to get the full reflection in the water
