Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
You may think this is a strange title but I used it because this cute robin was cheekily perched on some old weighing scales, which we have in the garden.
When I saw it, I commented to my husband Len, it must be testing if it has lost weight since it laid its eggs!
The photograph was taken through our conservatory window.
Robins are frequent visitors to our garden. Though seen frequently, they rarely sit still for an eager bird photographer!!!
I have previously posted photographs of young robins which are speckled, quite different in plumage to their parents. Robins have bright red breasts and if they see other robins in the garden, then they will fiercely persuade them to leave. For that reason, young robins are without the red breast so that they do not trigger territorial behaviour in the parents.
I will show a different view of the robin, still on the weighing scales, as a workshop.
Thank you for your interest, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
It feels a bit strange to realize that cute little birds like this would be so aggressive. You would imagine them to be kind little things. Life in nature is tough. But this one was kind enough to pose perfectly for you, at least for a few seconds. The dark green metal thing provides a very nice seat and fits the colour scheme perfectly. The fine light and perfect sharpness also make this a very nice photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley,
What an excellent photo of this charming little fellow, perfectly sharp capture, which makes it stand out well from the blurry background. Also the details of the old green scales look very good.

Hello Beverley,
It's the first time that I hear anything about the territorial behavior of the robin. However, it would explain why I've never seen several robins together, like we can see sparrows together.
Knowing this, you may wonder how many different robins you have been able to photograph in your garden.
Possibly it's often the same bird you see and this little animal may perhaps become more accustomed to you ...
Anyway, you present us here very cute pictures.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Beverley
Delightful nature image, you are such an expert on this pristine pose catching her at the right moment. Love the colours and detail of the plumage, we all love Robin's! That small part of vintage weighing scale machine caught attention too, is probably state of the art at the time which is a little treasure lurking hidden away in the garden! A device rekindles my rusty memories of physics lessons......
Excellent captures
Best regards

Bonjour, chère Bev,
Les oiseaux ont toujours fasciné l'homme, qui leur envie leur liberté et leur légèreté. Et l'on comprend pourquoi à la vue de ce petit oiseau qui fait fondre les coeurs les plus endurcis.
Jolie composition.
Amitiés.

Hello Bev,
You are so cruel....I'm still recovering from the hypnotism 'smouldering-gaze' this bird does to me.
Now this....this one is even better. The whole-package is so irresistible and sexy. Sorry, I got a little carried away.
Talking about the shots......I take my hat off to you. It takes a lot of patience to wait for the robin to sit still or even for a second. You did it with such ease.....I know myself it's not that easy. I like the WS- to me he is shying-away from you. I don't blame him.
Thanks for sharing my wonderful bird.
Loong

Hello Beverley, two delightful pictures of the robin.
The shallow depth of field works perfectly. The green metal of the scales contrasts with everything that we see.
Once again you had success photographing through glass, well done.
Plus you caught the catchlight in its eye.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Bonjour chère Beverley,
Of course you made me wondering... I had to make a Google search and it is amazing that such a cute bird only weighs between 16 and 22 grams (How many ounces is it?)
So I hope he hasn’t lost too much weight... ;)
Lovely, bright and neat shot!
Kiss and hug,
Viviane
