Photographer's Note

As simple as it may appear to you, I really like this view. The bridge in the distance, the Royal Border Bridge, feels as if it was passing through the town and from this point of view no river is actually visible. From my previous photos you already know that the bridge in the distance does go over a river because you were able to see its reflection the water. I actually have a photo of a train passing through that bridge but at a narrower view so I decided to show the wider scene here. This photo was taken from yet another bridge, the Royal Tweed Bridge, which you didn’t see yet. This bridge spans the river Tweed between the Royal Border Bridge and the old Berwick Bridge, which you have already seen. I considered to title this photo “Washing day in Berwick”, although in the wider view the washing aspect is less pronounced. In fact, when I was taking this photo, people in the house expressed their anger, I suppose about the fact that I photograph their daily life. Well tough, as my daughter says. I would thing that living in the valley between two bridges they would be used to people taking photos of them.
